At the AIPLA's annual meeting, Christopher J. Maier was appointed as the Chair of the Intellectual Property Practice in the Far East (IPPFEC). As part of his duties, Christopher met with delegates from the Korean Patent Attorney Association (KPAA) and will be organizing and leading a delegation of AIPLA officials and delegates to Asia in the Spring.
Partner Christopher J. Maier will be travelling to Japan to meet with clients and attorneys to discuss the USPTO's newly formed Patent Trial and Appeals Board (PTAB). Chris will be offering insights into the formation of the PTAB and a discussion regarding PTAB's interaction and involvement with the appeals, reexamination, inter partes review, and postgrant review processes. Additionally, Chris will provide strategy and practice tips useful during proceedings before the PTAB, as well as pregrant and postgrant patent challenges.
Partner Christopher J. Maier will be appointed as the chairman of the AIPLA's IP Practice in the Far East Committee. The official appointment will take place at the AIPLA's annual meeting in Washington, DC in October. Following his term as vice-chair, Chris will be leading a delegation of IP practitioners to Korea and Malaysia, as well as other potential Asian countries, during the first half of 2014. Organization and meetings for this delegation are currently being planned.
Christopher J. Maier has been appointed as Vice-Chair of a wide-spread international committee for the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA). Chris's duties will involve meeting with the heads of various intellectual property and technology-focused organizations throughout the world to discuss implementation, changes and effects of various patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret laws.
